QuietWalk is a walking and breathing app made by one person. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Almost everything it knows about you stays on your device.
The short version: QuietWalk does not collect, transmit or sell your personal data. Your sessions are stored on your own device. Health data is only ever written to Apple Health — never read for any purpose other than showing your live heart rate during a walk, and never used for advertising or shared with anyone.
Your practice journal — completed walks and breathing sessions, with their length and settings — is saved in a file inside the app on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere. If you delete the app, it is gone.
Your preferences (session length, rhythm, chosen breathing exercise, playlist) are stored on your device in the standard iOS/watchOS settings storage.
If you grant permission, QuietWalk writes to Apple Health:
On Apple Watch, while a walk workout is running, QuietWalk also reads your heart rate and active energy so it can show them on screen and attach them to the saved workout. That reading happens only during a workout, only on your watch, and the values are not stored by QuietWalk, not transmitted, and not used for anything else.
QuietWalk never uses Health data for advertising or marketing, never shares it with third parties, and never sells it. You can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app under Sharing → Apps.
If you decline Health access the app keeps working; on Apple Watch the walk no longer runs as a workout, so live heart rate and the saved workout are unavailable. Everything else — the timing, the haptics, the journal — continues as normal.
QuietWalk syncs your session and your journal summary between your own iPhone and your own Apple Watch using Apple's device-to-device connection. This data travels between your two devices only; it does not pass through any server of ours.
The music in QuietWalk is original ambient audio produced for the app under the name TMSTRY, streamed from a Cloudflare hosting bucket. When you play a track, your device requests that audio file directly. As with any internet request, the hosting provider may record standard technical server information such as your IP address and the file requested. QuietWalk sends no account, name or identifier with these requests, and we do not build profiles from them.
QuietWalk schedules notifications locally on your device to mark your walking-phase changes. Nothing is sent through a server; no push tokens are collected.
If you buy the QuietWalk Zen unlock, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. QuietWalk never sees your name, payment details or Apple Account — it only asks the system whether the unlock has been purchased.
QuietWalk is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
